MONITORING NETWORK

OF THE METEOROLOGICAL STATIONS OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH WATER INSTITUTE LIC. ARTURO GLEASON SANTANA A.C. (RMEM-IITAAC) IN THE METROPOLITAN AREA OF GUADALAJARA (ZMG).

Introduction

The disorderly urban growth of the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara (AMG) has directly affected the behavior of water resources, altering the variables of the hydrological cycle; This provoking problems in the increase of the runoff, the decrease of the infiltration, changes in the climates, etc.

In research on the subject of water resources, scholars in the field are looking for those methodologies that help solve the problems presented by disordered urban growth, these researchers and most of the times with limitations in their research , being one of them and the one that gives guideline to implement the network of monitoring, the availability of meteorological data specific to each area or place where the research is developed. However, despite the existence of weather stations in the GMA, they are not sufficient to cover the information demands of each of the areas to be analyzed, for example: if rainfall data are required to calculate runoff Of a locality of the municipality of Tonalá and there is no data of this municipality, then will be used the precipitation data of the municipality of Guadalajara.

Therefore, given the needs to obtain, know and properly handle more meteorological data by the research team of the Technological Water Research Institute Lic. Arturo Gleason Santana A.C (IITAAC), began from the year 2014, to install Its own meteorological monitoring network, in order to generate climatological antecedents of some points of the ZMG. Currently, three meteorological stations identified as: IITAAC01, IITAAC02 and IITAAC03 models Vantage Pro ™ and Vantage Pro Plus ™ of the Davis brand are being operated, IITAAC02 station being donated by Dr. José Arturo Gleason Espíndola and IITAAC03 station by Ing. Alejandro Cárdenas.

The weather stations are automatic and include the Davis Vantage Pro ™ and Vantage Pro Plus ™ models

The integrated sensor module for Vantage Pro ™ stations measures the following weather parameters:

  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Wind speed
  • Wind direction
  • Barométric pressure
  • Precipitation

The sensor module for the Vantage Pro Plus ™ station, in addition to the parameters already described, measures:

  • Ultraviolet radiation (UV)
  • Solar radiation
